IN THE NAME OF LOVE

Hi, my name is Nadja and I am a Marriage and Family Celebrant. When asked where I live, I feel lucky to answer, I live in paradise. Also known as Newrybar, which is 20 minutes away from the idyllic coastal town Byron Bay in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. I moved to this area in 2007 and call it home ever since.

BYRON BAY - THIS PLACE IS SPECIAL

I was born and raised in Germany, just south of Frankfurt, where I enjoyed a loving upbringing, following my two favorite things in life; singing and sports. As teenager I joined a school exchange program and visited Australia for the first time. I was hooked immediately by this vast and freedom oozing country with its lush coasts and happy and positive people and totally could see myself living here in the future.

With this vision in my mind, I studied International Business Management and started working for a Live Entertainment Touring Company. As the years went on the voice in the back of my head, that there is this amazing country on the other side of the planet, became louder and so it was time in 2007 to pack my bags. Australia was calling and I followed. I arrived straight into Byron Bay and was stunned by its beautiful beaches and surf breaks. Beyond this I was kept in awe by the high and positive energy, the creative pulse as well as the sense of community, not to mention the live music you can enjoy every day of the week. I was and still am in heaven, there is no deny, this place is special and I am grateful calling it home.

WHY I BECAME A CELEBRANT

First of all, I am head over heels in love with love itself, therefore I love weddings and ceremonies. I believe they are celebrations of significant mile stones and I cannot highlight enough their meaningfulness and importance as they help to transit from one chapter of life to the next.

I was blown away by the powerful ceremony of my own wedding. I got eloped in a private setting with just our witnesses, a photographer and a celebrant. This intimate setting made it easy to be fully present in the moment and to focus on just the two of us and I am forever grateful to have experienced the bond between our hearts when we exchanged our vows. One year later we renewed those vows with family and friends. Here the focus was to celebrate our love and union with our families and bring the two sides together. Two different but each so wonderful and important ceremonies in my life.

Professionally I was lucky to experience hundreds of weddings, as I have always worked in events, for example as wedding Maître D' for a lovely resort here in Byron Bay. When a dear friend of mine asked me if I would conduct her wedding, the idea of becoming a celebrant became reality.

WHAT I OFFER AS CELEBRANT

I am an advocate of love and commitment and I am passionate about my profession. I have a warm-hearted approach to get to know you and your story and to tailor and perform your unique ceremony. As a performer for many years I am comfortable speaking in front of crowds.

I also will guide you step by step through the legal process from lodging the Notice of Intended Marriage to registering your marriage with Birth, Death and Marriages.

I offer bilingual ceremonies in English / German and can integrate readings and poems in French and Spanish.
